Content screening not enabled but it's happening

I've got a BT2700HGV which has three hardwired devices - the laptop that is only connected during work hours, and a self-contained network camera and desktop machine that are both permanently powered up.

Just recently, the desktop machine has been showing the "Website has been blocked due to content screening settings" message. The default homepage in Google Chrome is YouTube and in MSIE it's Google.co.uk. I can't get onto any site with either browser.

It is present on the network, I'm able to transfer files between it and the laptop without problem. The laptop is able to use the internet without problem.

The laptop is "Inspiron" - it has two entries below, one is for when I forget to disable wireless so it connects using both. The desktop is "Dell"

I'm suspecting an automated firmware update or someone hacking through OpenZone or the internet, because I've not changed anything to produce this effect. Any ideas?

Re: Content screening not enabled but it's happening

Try putting a restriction onto yuor machine, and then lifting it to see what happens.

Otherwise.....

Hard reset the router, the content screening can be buggy as hell in this router from personal experiance...

Just press and hold the wee button in the back of it for 10 secodns or so.

You will need a note of the un/pw for the router to get it back online.

Also, will have to reset wireless.

Thanks - I'll let you know how I get on tomorrow when I'm back at the shop...

(I already tried adding then removing content screening - didn't work)

Re: Content screening not enabled but it's happening

Yep - that did the trick.

I need to fix the port forwarding for FTP, the webcam and VNC now, though, so I think I'll be demanding a different router if it happens again. I don't need content screening, so periodic reboot and the loss of all my settings is not an option for a buggy feature I don't need.
